Lorde displaces Miley Cyrus

Sólo dos semanas le han sido necesarias a la joven cantante Lorde para destronar del tope de las listas de éxitos a Miley Cyrus y su ‘Wrecking Ball’, y así quedarse con el puesto número uno de la lista Billboard Hot, instalando su nuevo single ‘Royals’. Lorde, una joven neozelandesa de tan solo 16 años, le robó el primer puesto a Cyrus luego de varias semanas de que esta última estuviera peleando por alcanzarlo desde el tercer puesto.
Ella Yelich-O’Connor, más conocida como Lorde, nació en la ciudad neozelandesa de Auckland, y comenzó a descubrir la música entre los 12 y 13 años. La cantante confesaba en una entrevista: “Uno de los primeros grupos que me gustaron fue Animal Collective. Recuerdo que en aquel momento sólo escuchaba música pop, y Animal Collective, aunque también es pop, lo hace de una manera que me pareció original y diferente”. La exitosa neozelandesa se ha convertido en la artista más joven en llegar al número uno en Estados Unidos desde que Tiffany con su ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ lo obtuviese en 1987.
Lorde llegó al tope del ranking norteamericano con su nuevo single, ‘Royals’, que formó parte de un EP llamado ‘The Love Club’, y que ahora ha sido incluido como tema de difusión de su primer álbum ‘Pure Heroine’, editado a fines de septiembre en Nueva Zelanda, Australia y EE.UU. y que llegará a Europa a partir del próximo 28 de septiembre.
